February 10, Microsoft’s update strategy for Windows 11 has been highly controversial. Especially during a fresh installation or first – time setup, the system forces users to connect to the internet to download and install updates, a process that usually takes a long time.
The latest information shows that Microsoft is testing a new feature that allows users to decide whether to install updates during the OOBE (Out – of – Box Experience). IT administrators can manage this process through Group Policy or the Microsoft AutoPilot function.
This means that users will be able to choose whether to download and install updates during the first – time setup according to their own needs, thus significantly reducing the waiting time. Currently, this feature is still in the testing phase. However, Microsoft has stated that it is expected to start rolling out to all users in the middle of 2025.
This change will ensure that when users first use Windows 11, they can enter the desktop to make other settings without having to wait for a long time for the updates to complete.
For now, this feature is only available to enterprise users. Microsoft has not mentioned whether it will be extended to individual and home users. We can only hope that individual and home users will also be able to use this feature in the future.
